	Kiyoshi Masunaga was born in Hookena, Hawaii on May 22, 1917. He was the son of Tsurumatsu and Yui (Matsunaga) Masunaga. He was educated at Hookena School, Konawaena High and Elem. School, Hawaii. (Serial number, 30101764) He trained at Schofield Barracks, Oahu; Camp Paukukalo, Maui; Camp McCoy, Wisconsin; and Camp Shelby, Mississippi. He served with the 299th Inf. Regiment and the 100th Infantry Battalion, in the Hawaiian Islands, the continental USA, Algeria, and Italy. He was award the Purple Heart Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, American and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medals, and the World War II Victory Medal.
